A celebration of the achievements of the Nottingham Sickle cell and Thalassaemia Service at the Hilton hotel, 21st July 2009 as part of a project evaluating the service facilitated by Bright Ideas.
The event was compered by Trish Adudu and featured special guest Des Walker and Pete Campbell. Guest speaker Ajay shared his experiences of being diagnosed with Sickle cell and Thalassaemia and finding the right treatments for himself. Joanne Bloomfield, who has managed the service since 2002, spoke about new developments to the service and the evaluation that had been carried out with Bright Ideas after which Lyn Bacon, Cheif Operating Officer for Citihealth Nottingham led a session where audience members were able to share their concerns and ask questions.
Leroy Lindsay, a local businessman, gave an after-lunch speech about his personal victories, and the young poet Henry recited poems he had written with his dad.
