Dan

Who are you and what is your role at Bright Ideas?

I’m Dan, and I work with a lot of our media and web output; I built the website, make videos and do bit of design here and there including the Champion’s of Change newsletter.  I also get involved with organising events.

When did you start working at Bright Ideas?

March 2010

What is your favourite thing about working here?

Cake, but since realising the detrimental effect on my waistline, I shall say the camaraderie.

What do you aim to achieve in 2011 with Bright Ideas?

To get some things finished and (when I leave soon) make sure everything I have been involved in is ship shape and easy for someone else to pick up.

What did you do before Bright Ideas was part of your life?

I graduated from a Fine Art degree, and have been involved with a group called Sixes & Sevens as well as a magazine called Nottingham Visual arts alongside my own practise of making, writing and curating.

Where can you be found when you’re not in the office?

Brighton.

What is your funniest memory or moment whilst working at Bright Ideas?

The idea of me dressed in a Niquab quietly sat in a meeting to see if anyone realised.

What are you most looking forward to in 2011?

Summer.

What was your best memory of 2010?

Eating moules frites in Montmatre as street performers did their thing around us in the moonlight.

Describe yourself in five words.

A breath of fresh air.

What is your one weakness?

Having several weaknesses.

What is an interesting fact about you?

I once won a stand-up competition.  I was 10.

What can you not live without?

My girlfriend.

If you were a colour what colour would you be and why?

“Two great divisions of colour occur to the mind at the outset: into warm and cold, and into light and dark. To each colour there are therefore four shades of appeal–warm and light or warm and dark, or cold and light or cold and dark.”  (Wassily Kandinsky, ‘On The Spiritual in Art’)

What is the brightest thing about you?

I’m blonde, so, y’know, the hair glows but you can guess the rest.

As you’re leaving Bright Ideas, what are your final thoughts on Bright Ideas?

S’alright, innit?
