Equality, Inclusion and Action in Adult Education – WEA Conference 2011

On Friday 28th October 2011 there is a WEA Conference at the East Midlands Conference Centre, University of Nottingham.

At this conference learners on a recent learning programme at Bright Ideas about community action research are speaking at one of the workshops. They are Miriam Ghaffar and Parveen Begum.

It is a one day conference on the role of adult education in building a bigger and better society.

Speakers Include:

David Hughes, NIACE Chief Exective

Dame Pauline Green, President of the international Co-operative Alliance

Richard Wilkinson, co-author of ‘The Spirit Level’

A choice of sixteen workshop sessions, including:

 Tom Wilson, Director of unionlearn

 Henry Tam, writer and policy expert in democratic engagement

 Peter Bradley former MP, and Chief Executive of Speakers’ Corner Trust

 WEA workshops on running educational projects for equality, inclusion and community involvement.

Plus a conference address from John Hayes MP, Minister of State for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning.
