True Colours

True Colours

True Colours was a vibrant partnership project between the Workers Educational Association East Midlands, Bright Ideas Nottingham, Making Waves and BME Cancer Communities. It was part of a national pilot programme which aimed to measure the impact of adult learning on mental health and wellbeing. The project co-produced a programme of of short courses on a variety of topics that aimed to improve the mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of those who attended. Working with local people, we designed and delivered a series of short courses and workshops targeted at people experiencing issues such as anxiety, mild depression, stress and problems sleeping. Topics included:

Art

Archaeology

Black Lives Matter

Cancer Support

Confidence

Creative Storytelling

Drumming

Family History

Gardening

Mindfulness

Nutrition

Poetry

Evaluation and assessment provided evidence of a marked improvement in participants’ mental health and well-being.

  1. Hello there

Might you be interested in doing something around Domestic violence and abuse? I specialise in teaching this for the WEA.

Also wondered about something around listening to inspiring music and ‘having a go’ at percussion etc With a view to expressing feelings and lifting spirits? I teach a music course at Antenna
